Trends in tobacco use
In 2007, the American Lung Association released the report Trends in Tobacco Use, in which cigarette smoking is shown to be the number one cause of preventable disease and premature death worldwide. The report focuses primarily on cigarette smoking but also includes information on the use of smokeless tobacco and exposure to secondhand smoke.
Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System
Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) is a surveillance system developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to monitor risky health-related behaviors by young people in the United States. Reports from the YRBSS contain useful data on smoking by teens, which can be presented to school administrators or potential funders as evidence of the need for the N-O-T program in a school or community.
