Facilitator Training
What does the facilitator training entail?
The facilitator training explains nicotine addiction, curriculum content and implementation, and how to conduct group processes.
Facilitators learn and experience
- How to conduct sessions and group activities
- What challenges may arise
- How to handle potential challenges
After the training facilitators should be able to
- Help students quit smoking with the N-O-T program
- Deal with issues that arise during sessions
- Be committed to and excited about N-O-T
Why training is conducted in-person
The training is conducted in-person to ensure that facilitators understand the importance of specific skills and can demonstrate their ability to follow the curriculum. How a smoking cessation program is delivered is just as important as what is delivered. A good facilitator makes N-O-T "come alive" for participants. Communication and empathy are interpersonal skills essential to being a successful facilitator. The training and curriculum manual provide a strong foundation for understanding the content of N-O-T and how to deliver it effectively.
